2010 Living Healthy Commotion

Be part of next year’s Olympic-sized Living Healthy Commotion on February 26

2010 Living Healthy Commotion

Every fall, Living Healthy Commotions bring together students, teachers, administrators, parents and the community to create healthier places for students to learn. Past Living Healthy Commotions have included events like a scavenger hunt, town parade, hula hoop toss, fitness Monopoly and human bowling.

But something big is on the horizon. The Departments of Education, and Tourism, Culture and Recreation, are planning a special, one-time Olympic-sized Living Healthy Commotion for next February. These commotions will bring fun, educational activities that celebrate the spirit and ideals of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games - friendship, fair play and the pursuit of excellence.

Schools should get creative and think big! Come up with a plan and submit it to your school district, because one school from each district will be chosen to be featured on jumbo screens during the medal ceremony warm-up show in Vancouver.

On the morning of February 26, 2010, a TV crew will show up at your school to film your commotion. It will be formatted into a 2-3 minute video. And that night, millions around the world will see your school celebrate Living Healthy Commotions Olympic-style! Let’s show the world how imaginative and inventive we can be in Newfoundland and Labrador. Let’s dazzle the world!

Commotion plans must be submitted in writing no later than Friday, November 20, 2009 to your district contact. Selected schools will be notified in December.
