License Stipulations

1.    The operator shall place a sign or signs on all property that has been treated with a pesticide formulation. At the discretion of the operator, the sign or signs should be placed in a manner to ensure high visibility. The sign must remain in place for a period of not less than forty-eight (48) hours but not more than ten (10) days. It will be the responsibility of the operator to ensure that measures are taken to ensure the removal of the sign in the time frame mentioned.

2.    The sign must meet the minimum requirements as follows:

The sign and information contained on it must be weather resistant for at least forty-eight (48) hours. The sign shall be sturdy enough that it can be reused.

The sign shall be rectangular and at least twenty-eight (28) centimetres high and twenty-two (22) centimetres wide.

The front of each sign shall bear,

The words AWARNING@ at the top in capital letters.

Below those words a pictogram showing a single, black silhouette of an adult person on a white background within a red circle crossed by an oblique red bar.

Below the pictogram the words APESTICIDE USE@ in capital letters.

Below those words the words AFOR INFORMATION CONTACT@ in capital letters and the telephone number of a local representative of the person performing the treatment who can provide more information about it. The Department of Environment contact number (729-3395 - St. John=s) must also be placed next to the first phone number and identified accordingly.

Below the phone numbers the words ADATE SPRAYED@ and the date the treatment begins.

The front of the sign may bear only words and markings that do not detract from the required information, occupying not more than the bottom 2.5 centimetres of the sign, that identify the employer of the person performing the treatment.

The back of each sign shall bear,

The word APESTICIDE@ at the top in capital letters followed by the name of the pesticide used or intended for use.

Below those words the words AREGISTRATION NUMBER@ in capital letters followed by the registration number assigned to the pesticide under the Pest Control Products Act (Canada).

Below those words the words ATO CONTROL@ in capital letters followed by the name of the pest to be controlled.

Words and markings that do not detract from the required information, occupying not more than the bottom 2.5 centimetres of the sign identifying the employer of the person performing the treatment.

The words AWARNING@ and APESTICIDE USE@ on the front of each sign shall be printed in red letters and shall be at least 2.5 centimetres high.

All other letters and numbers shall be printed in black and shall be at least one centimetre high.

The outer edge of the red circle on the pictogram shall be at least 12.5 centimetres in diameter on each sign and the width of the circle shall be approximately one-tenth the size of the diameter.

3.    The brochure ALawn Care Services and the Environment@ shall be distributed to each client of the operator in advance of any pesticide treatment of his/her property. Method of brochure distribution is at the discretion of the operator.
