Parks

Within the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, certain areas have been set aside as provincial, federal, municipal or private parks. The purpose of these parks is to maintain natural areas that people can visit to experience and enjoy the great outdoors. Within parks, many activities are either restricted or prohibited such as logging, mineral exploration, mining, hydroelectric development, cottage development, etc. These parks are also important to wildlife as refuges as hunting and trapping are not permitted within park boundaries.
