Mary Ann Kavanagh
For 29 years, Mary
Ann Kavanagh has worked with the Department of
Innovation, Trade and Rural Development and its
predecessor departments and agencies. Her corporate
knowledge is a true asset, particularly as she
readily shares this knowledge with newer staff
members. Her extensive knowledge of business and
economic development files, and her dedication and
pleasant demeanor are valued by her co-workers.
Mary Ann’s contributions
to departmental projects have resulted in effective
and efficient outcomes second to none. When called
on to participate in projects outside the normal
scope of her work, she readily responds to the
challenge. Very often she assumes additional
responsibility to get things moving and
accomplished. She never hesitates in volunteering
for various projects and committees and, regardless
of her heavy workload, she never loses her personal
approach or her insistence on providing quality
service.
Exhibiting leadership
and sound judgment Mary Ann is an integral team
player in terms of the unwavering support she
elicits on a regular basis. This is seen
particularly in her direct involvement in dealing
with business and economic development clients,
other government agencies and co-workers, and the
key role she plays in their experience with the
department. She is known for her special
relationship building ability, making relationships
with clients and stakeholders a priority.
Consistently, co-workers say that Mary Ann‘s
involvement in any project helps guarantee its
overall success.
Mary Ann provides
support for two Assistant Deputy Ministers, as well
as administrative support to the Business Investment
Corporation and the Corporate Transactions
Committee. Her co-workers praise her exceptional
organizational skills and leadership qualities which
permit her to carry additional responsibilities.
One of the greatest
characteristics attributed to Mary Ann is her sense
of fairness. She demonstrates the importance of good
client service and respect, which translate into her
excellent working relationships with all staff in
the department. Her professionalism and work ethic
are matched only by her wonderful sense of humour,
and her innovative approaches to delivering the
business of government as part of her daily routine.
Mary Ann is known for not only doing her job, but
getting the job done.
