Election Day Employment

All applicants must meet certain qualifications in order to be considered for employment during an election. An election worker must be:

• 18 years of age or older
• a Canadian citizen
• a resident of NL the day before polling day
• a resident of the district for which he or she is applying

• Deputy Returning Officer
• Poll Clerk
• Supervisor
• Door Guard

All submitted applications will be forwarded to the Returning Officer for consideration. Please keep in mind that submitting this form does not guarantee election employment.

The Access to Information & Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPPA) entitles you to a right of access to your personal information. Personal information collected on this form will be provided by Elections NL to the Returning Officer located in your area of residence upon notice that an election will be required in your district. The Returning Officer will use this personal information for the purpose of staffing election officer's positions for that election. In accordance with section 37 of the ATIPPA, your personal information will be kept for at least one year after polling day.
