Overview
|
The Mineral Development Division is responsible for the technical and
economic analysis of the mining industry in the Province including the
monitoring and analysis of all aspects of individual mining operations,
new and proposed mineral developments and the collection of all statistics
on the mining industry and individual mining and quarry operations. It is
the Branch’s key division for liaison with the Departments of Industry
Trade and Rural Development, Finance and Executive Council. It plays a key
role in the coordination of government’s activities on new mining
developments and assisting in the timely development of all mining projects.
It also provides training and assistance for prospectors and provides advice
to all provincial and federal government agencies who provide financial
support or assistance to mining projects.
The Division is responsible for the administration of the Mining Act which
govern's all aspects of mining operations, from development and operations
to closure.
