A collection of photographs which
depicts the various aspects of exploration and production in the
mining industry. These photographs show the working conditions and
the techniques used in the quest for our mineral resources, and the
methods used in the production phase. Most photographs are from the
files of the Geological Survey.
The collection is divided into
three categories. These are:

Each category will give a brief
summary of the activities associated with that phase of the mining
industry.
Other photo collections include Geology and
Geological Features and Mineral Specimens of Newfoundland and
Labrador. Also available is a summary of the rock and mineral-forming
processes; and an abbreviated glossary of commonly used geological
terms which will help you understand some of the photograph
descriptions.
These photographs were originally collected for
distribution to schools within the province of Newfoundland and
Labrador. These sets are no longer available, but are presented here
for your viewing pleasure.
