KATHY
DUNDERDALE
Minister of Natural Resources
Member for
Virginia Waters
Kathy Dunderdale was the first woman to be elected
President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of
Municipalities and the only woman to have been made an
honorary member of that organization. She has served as a
Director with the Canadian Federation of Municipalities, and
as President of the Progressive Conservative Party of
Newfoundland and Labrador. Minister Dunderdale has worked in
the fields of community development, communications,
fisheries and social work. In both her work and volunteer
capacities, she has exhibited an ongoing commitment to women’s
issues, and to rural development in our province.
Her passion for our
communities is evident in her former work with the
Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development and
with the Rural Secretariat. While in office from 2003-2006,
Minister Dunderdale led the department in its mandate to
foster and promote economic development by encouraging
investment, promoting strategic opportunities, and
maximizing business and employment growth in all regions of
the province. She was appointed Minister of Natural
Resources on July 5, 2006.
Ms. Dunderdale has two
children, Sara (Matt) and Tom (Jillian), and a grandson,
Jack. She makes her home in St. John’s.
