Home   Ministers' Message Thank you for visiting our web page dedicated to helping students and parents, as well as teachers and other professionals, learn more about the prescription drug, OxyContin. OxyContin is a powerful narcotic used to treat serious pain. However, misuse of this narcotic is becoming more widespread throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. We have had several deaths attributed to improper use of this drug. We all have a role in ensuring that the people of our province understand the seriousness of misusing this drug. It is our hope that by providing the following information, serious consideration will be given to the consequences of potential abuse of OxyContin.
