Major road improvement projects announced for Bellevue district

Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, today announced government will invest $1,035,000 in road upgrades for the district of Bellevue.

"When the provincial budget was announced in March, government reiterated its commitment to improving transportation in the province and now I’m following through on this commitment," said Barrett. "I’m very pleased to be able to announce these projects for my district which will allow significant upgrades to be made this year."

Projects planned for 2001/02 include:

• upgrading a section of English Harbour East Road;
• resurfacing a total of three kilometres of Garden Cove Road and North Harbour Road;
• repairing the seawall at Mount Arlington, Route 202-10;
• replacing a culvert on Route 212, Harbour Mille Road.

The department expects to call tenders for the projects over the next couple of months.
