Over half a million dollars for road upgrades in Placentia and St. Mary’s

Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, today announced government will invest $575,000 into road upgrades in Placentia and St. Mary’s.

"This is a significant investment which we will use toward several improvement projects in the area," said Barrett. "I’m pleased the department will be able to go forward with these projects this year."

Projects planned for 2001/02 include:

• Replace North Harbour River Bridge (carry-over);
  
  
• Electrical/mechanical repair to Placentia Lift Bridge;
  
  
• Repair 300 metre section of Route 100, Argentia Access Road (three km north of Dunville );
  
  
• Replace culvert and arch culvert at Five Mile Waters;
  
  
• Replace culvert at Cape Dog River, Route 92.

The department expects to call tenders for the projects over the next couple of months.
