NLIS 6 June 13, 2003 (Works, Services and Transportation) Road improvements for Port de Grave Works, Services and Transportation Minister Jim Walsh and Port de Grave MHA Roland Butler today announced government’s plans for upgrades to road infrastructure in the district of Port de Grave this year. "This year, government increased its provincial roads program by $1 million, to $23 million, which we will use to carry out improvements throughout the province," said Minister Walsh. "The projects we have planned for Port de Grave will certainly enhance the area’s infrastructure and we’re very pleased to have the capability to complete them." Minister Walsh said the department will upgrade and pave a section of Thicket Road; upgrade Brazil’s Hill in Spaniard’s Bay (carry over from 2002-03); and make minor upgrades on the lighthouse road including Class ‘A’ surfacing. Mr. Butler said: "I’m very pleased to see these projects taking place in my district, and indeed these particular areas. This allocation of funding is indicative of government’s commitment to this area and improving its infrastructure." Tenders for these projects have been called.
