Tom Rideout, Minister
of Transportation and Works, and Ray Hunter, MHA for Windsor-Springdale
District, today announced roads projects for the district, valued at
$1.5 million in new funding. Funding
for these projects is made available under the 2005-06 Provincial Roads
Improvement Program. “The Provincial Roads
Improvement Program provides funding for a number of projects, including
improvements to major trunk roads, community access and local roads,”
said Minister Rideout. “Budget
2005 allocated $30 million, which has since been increased to $45
million, plus an additional $3.7 million carried over from last year,
for road upgrades throughout the province under this year’s roads
program. This demonstrates
government’s ongoing commitment to provide a safe and reliable
provincial roads infrastructure. To
that end, I am pleased to announce roads projects for
Windsor-Springdale.” Planned work for the
district includes resurfacing on Route 380, toward Triton and Robert’s
Arm, valued at $1 million. An
additional $500,000 has been allocated for resurfacing of sections of
the road to “I am certainly
pleased with the level of roadwork funding announced today,” said Mr.
Hunter. “This roadwork
will increase safety for all road travelers and enhance the road
infrastructure in my district of Windsor-Springdale.
Today’s announcement is another example of our government’s
