The Corner Brook-Rocky Habour region is bound by coastal and inland waterways, fiords and mountains and hosts a festival of color every autumn. There are many assets and opportunities such as: Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a 25-billion-year-old geological history as old as the planet and a human history going back 4,500 years, plus the Discovery Center and Tableland Mountains and the vibrant communities, such as Woody Point and Rocky Harbour. White Bay has Main River with national heritage status, old growth forest and the oldest tree on the Island. Marble Mountain boasts the best skiing east of the Rockies, and is in close proximity to the Pasadena Cross Country Ski and Nature Park, Corner Brook Stream Trail and a Fine Arts School at Memorial University’s Grenfell College where shows from local writers to Broadway hits co-exist with established and newly discovered archeological sites. There is the internationally recognized Humber Valley Resort and golf course, The Center for International Students, The Centre for Environmental Excellence, and the Bonne Bay Marine Station at Norris Point. There are 300 kms of hiking trails including the Bay of Islands Trails and the newly opened Appalachian Trail and a heritage rich in forestry, fishery, farming and mining traditions. People, communities and businesses work co-operatively to host world-class events, such as sports triathlons, and embrace new opportunities.
