Our communities are constantly changing. No one knows this more than the individuals working and volunteering in organizations throughout our province. Community organizations are at the heart of each and every community and as such feel directly the changes that have impacted our communities so significantly in recent years.
Throughout our province, community organizations are at the front lines of service delivery. As our communities change and grapple with new realities, community organizations are likewise challenged to respond to new needs and demands. It is therefore vitally important that organizations are provided with the skills, training and resources needed to respond to these changes.
Community organizations have consistently highlighted that the way government delivers grants to the community has serious implications for how organizations function. We recognize that access to reliable and stable funding as well as training for staff and volunteers is key to supporting the development of strong, vibrant and sustainable organizations.
The secretariat has been working with a number of provincial and national organizations to better understand the challenges faced by organizations as well as identify the policies and practices that will support organizations and ultimately strengthen their ability to do the meaningful work they do.
