The voluntary, community based sector is a tremendous contributor to countless communities throughout our province. While some volunteers and organizations are highly visible and well known in their communities, others exist in the background as quiet yet equally powerful agents of social change and development. From municipal town councils, to volunteer firefighters, environmental champions, literacy tutors and volunteer board of directors and everything in between, the voluntary, community-based sector represents a wide-range of interests and causes. In fact, the sector in Newfoundland and Labrador is as exciting and diverse as our province.
As a secretariat the VNPS is tasked with promoting and recognizing the good work of the sector and more importantly taking the time to celebrate the contributions of the thousands of volunteers and organizations that make our communities the places that we call home.
Periodically throughout the year the Minister Responsible for the Volunteer and Non-Profit Sector is invited to recognize and thank volunteers and organizations for their outstanding contributions. During Volunteer Week we celebrate the individuals and organizations that give so much to our communities.
If you know of a group that should be recognized for their outstanding volunteer contributions please contact us.
