Internet Safety

The Internet is a wonderful source of information, and social media and email can be excellent ways to communicate with family and friends. However, it is important to be aware that someone who has access to your computer may be able to see what sites you have visited or read your email messages and social media postings.

If you are a victim of violence and your abuser knows his or her way around computers, it might be better to use a computer outside the home - at a library, school, internet café, or at the home of a friend or family member.

While it is difficult to absolutely guarantee that your travels on the Internet can't be traced at all, there are some steps you can take to reduce the chances that someone can track your activities. They are described through the links below:
