If you are a high school student or post-secondary student, the department can provide you with employment information and opportunities through various paid and volunteer placements. For information on programs and services, check Students and Graduates or visit a Employment Centre.

3. I am interested in pursuing post-secondary education and I have a disability. Is there any funding to help persons with a disability pursue post-secondary education?

The Labour Market Agreement for Persons with Disabilities (LMAPD) is designed to help you get the skills, experience and support to successfully prepare for, enter or stay in the work force. This program is cost-shared with Service Canada.

You can contact a local Immigration, Population Growth and Skills Office or visit a Employment Centre for more information on LMAPD.

4. I dropped out of high school and I want to complete grade 12. Will your department sponsor me to do ABE (Adult Basic Education)?

You may be eligible to receive support for ABE though Employment Development Supports offered through Immigration, Skills and Labour. For more information on ABE or to discuss eligibility for sponsorship, you can contact a local Immigration, Population Growth and Skills Office or visit a Employment Centre.

5. I am a post-secondary student looking for a work-term, and also will be looking for employment after I graduate. Can you help?

The Department can help you with finding a work-term by creating links with employment leads and identifying opportunities for employment through Students and Graduates.

If you are a recent post-secondary graduate, a wage subsidy program titled the JobsNL Wage Subsidy Program can help you with securing valuable work experience in your field of study. For information on this program contact a local Immigration, Population Growth and Skills Office or visit a Employment Centre.

6. I am looking for financial assistance for post-secondary education. Am I eligible for any programs through Immigration, Population Growth and Skills?

Funding may be available to you for Short Term Training (a post-secondary program that is not eligible for funding by Student Aid and is less than 12 weeks) under Employment Development Supports.

If you have a disability and are interested in post-secondary education you may be eligible for supports under the Labour Market Agreement for Persons with Disabilities (LMAPD).
