The department can assist employers with their recruitment, retention and skills development needs.

Employers can apply for program funding online. To do this, you must first complete a registration.

Recruitment and Retention

Do you need workers? The department has access to many individuals who are looking for work – tell us what types of skills you need and we may be able to help connect you with job seekers who meet your needs.

Wage Subsidies can connect employers and employees by providing funding to employers to create sustainable long-term employment or seasonal/short-term employment. The subsidy is intended to offset salary costs to create new positions.

Labour Market Partnership Program provides funding to support development and implementation of labour market strategies and activities for dealing with labour force adjustments and meeting human resource requirements.

Development of Skills

Do you need training for your new or current employees? The department has programs that can assist workers in getting the right skills for the job.

Canada NL Job Grant provides funding to eligible businesses and organizations to help offset the cost of training for their existing and future employees.

Employment Enhancement Program provides funding to employers to create sustainable, long-term employment, or seasonal employment. A training allowance is provided to support new employees.

Hiring Students

Do you have a job that would be suitable for a student? The department provides funding to assist employers to create summer jobs for high school and post-secondary students each summer.

Summer Employment Program for Students provides funding to assist private sector businesses and not‐for‐profit organizations create summer employment for students (post-secondary or high school).

Labour Market Information assists people in making informed decisions to best meet the demand for labour. Information on the demand for jobs can help make important decisions about study and training, a first job, or the next best step in a career. By ensuring the right people are available for future work, and encouraging the development of new skills, quality and timely information allows us to prepare for tomorrow’s economy.
