Gatherings and Contacts

One of the best ways to reduce your risk of getting COVID-19 is to keep your number of close contacts as low as possible. This is important in helping to stop the spread of COVID-19, including variants of concern.

Personal gatherings are social gatherings that are not organized by a recognized business or organization. Some examples include:

  • Having guests over to your home.
  • Family events.
  • Private functions like birthday parties and baby showers.
  • Sleepovers.
  • Wakes.

The following guidance does not apply to formal gatherings run by a recognized business or organization. These types of gatherings should refer to the Event Guidance page for more information.

While gatherings are permitted, you should try to keep your number of close contacts low. Keep track of who you are interacting with in case you become involved in a contact tracing investigation. A good way to do this is by downloading the COVID Alert app.
