2010 Poverty Reduction Strategy Consultations

The Provincial Government officially launched its Poverty Reduction Strategy in 2006 as a long term approach to preventing, reducing, and alleviating poverty. The province has made public consultation a defining aspect of its approach to poverty reduction, as this helps ensure the strategy stays current and responsive to changing conditions and needs. As such, public consultations are held every two years throughout the province to gather public feedback that informs the ongoing development of anti-poverty efforts.

The most recent consultations were held in the fall of 2010. These consultations represented the third time that the Provincial Government has engaged the public about poverty, with previous consultations taking place in 2005 and 2008. This website provides information about how this consultation process was carried out and summarizes the feedback that was received.
