Pressure Welder and Brazer Testing

A certification as a Welder, Brazer, Operator may be issued to a welder or brazer who is employed by a licenced pressure system contractor, holding a registered Welding Procedure Specification when the candidate has passed a test meeting the requirements of ASME Code, Section IX.

Requirements

  • A completed application form (157 KB) is required for new candidates only. Testing of candidates previously issued welding symbols may be arranged by telephone request by the employer.

Fees

  • Per the Regulations
  • Fees Policy (68 KB)
    • $90.00 (H.S.T. not applicable) employer is invoiced for all testing / certification fees. When test is by special request of owner, an additional fee of $108.00 per hour (3 hours minimum) plus travel and subsistence is charged to the employer.
    • $216.00 (H.S.T. not applicable) for Welding Procedures design registration.

Applications can be submitted to EngineeringInspection@gov.nl.ca or the nearest office location.

Printed copies of applications and publications are available at the Government Service Centre Division’s regional and area offices.

A certification as a Welder, Brazer, Operator is issued to successful candidates in the field by the inspector at the time of testing. Certificate takes the form of a log book.
