Signage Requirements
Effective September 30, 2012 all buildings which are subject to the Buildings Accessibility Regulations must have permanently installed vertical signage and painted spaces, which must include the international symbol for accessibility.

A Building Accessibility Design Registration is issued for a building or part thereof that is either being constructed, reconstructed or renovated where the work is required to conform to the Buildings Accessibility Act and Regulations.
A Buildings Accessibility Exemption Registration is issued for a building or part thereof that is either being constructed, reconstructed or renovated where the work is not required to conform to The Buildings Accessibility Act and Regulations.
Approval is required for all commercial building plans.
