School Board Transition

Progress Update (June 17, 2013)

The School Board Transition Committee held its fifth meeting via teleconference on Monday, June 17. All committee members were present with the exception of Guy Elliott from Labrador, who sent regrets. The CEO-designate of the new English-language school district, Darrin Pike, was present, along with ex-offio members Janet Vivian-Walsh (Deputy Minister of Education) and Ed Walsh (Assistant Deputy Minister, Primary, Elementary, Secondary Education).

Candidates for the senior executive positions at the new English-language school district were shortlisted and interviews were to take place over the following weeks. Several candidates were shortlisted for multiple positions, and will be interviewed once. It was anticipated that there would be over 30 interviews in all.

The positions to be filled are Associate Director of Education – Programs, Headquarters; Assistant Director – Programs (Labrador, Western, Central, Eastern); Assistant Director – Human Resources; Assistant Director – Operations.
