The Student Summer Employment Program provides post-secondary students with disabilities an opportunity to work in a field related to their training and to gain practical skills and knowledge, preparing them for their future entry into the labour market.
From June to August, students will be placed throughout provincial government departments with all associated salary costs provided by the Office of Employment Equity for Persons with Disabilities. Placements generally last for a duration of ten weeks and participants will be paid at the regular summer student rate of $12.65 per hour.
Applications will be evaluated based on the relevance of the work and how closely it compliments the students’ post-secondary training. Matching of students to proposals will occur upon receipt of your application. If a successful match is made, the department will be contacted to facilitate the placement process. It is anticipated that student placements will commence in mid-June to the end of August.
It will be the responsibility of the employing Department to provide a suitable, accessible work space to perform the duties of the placement.
