Indigenous Women

There are three Indigenous Women’s Organizations in the Province.

The Newfoundland Aboriginal Women’s Network (NAWN), based in Stephenville, is open to Indigenous women on the Island, and delivers programs that address issues identified by NAWN’s membership.

The AnânauKatiget Tumingit Regional Inuit Women’s Association (ATRIWA) has a voluntary board of directors comprised of 12 regional representatives from the five Inuit communities, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, North West River, and elsewhere in Canada. ATRIWA’s goal is to advance equal participation of Labrador Inuit women socially, culturally, legally and economically.

The Newfoundland Native Women’s Association (NNWA) is the provincial affiliate of the Native Women’s Association of Canada, which serves to enhance the social, economic, cultural and political well-being of Indigenous women.
