IMSAT (Information Management Self-Assessment Tool) Program

The OCIO has successfully worked with Departments to develop their IM Programs. With extensive program development initiatives, policy instruments and advisory services already in place, the next logical step has been to develop a tool to assess progress in the development of Departmental IM Program capacity.

IMSAT is used to assess the IM program based on the IM Maturity Model and requirements introduced in the IMCAT process. IMSAT is:

  • A consistent process that can be applied to public bodies; and
  • Includes a maturity model that enables public bodies to identify areas of strength/opportunities.

The IMSAT will provide departments with the ability to review their program against predetermined criteria supported by the

  • IMCAT components
  • The Guide to Information Management (IM) for Public Bodies – Release 1.0
  • Industry best practices.

IMSAT will leverage the learning from the Information Management Capacity Assessment Tool (IMCAT) Program as it works to support and further enhance IM capacity in departments.
