Minister Responsible for Women and Gender Equality

Pam completed her degree in Political Science at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, NS in 2003, prior to completing her Program in Radio Television Arts at Kingstec, NSCC in the Annapolis Valley, NS, where she graduated with a Major in Broadcast Journalism. Upon completion of her studies in the Valley, Pam put her education and skills to work when she was hired at CBC’s Here and Now in St. John’s.

While reporting for TV News she also filed for CBC Radio. She was also employed as an on-air Journalist and Producer at Rogers TV, Out of the Fog. In 2009 Pam moved to Owen Sound, Ontario where she was a Reporter and the Producer for First Local News, Rogers TV.

It was not long before she then accepted a position at NTV News, where she worked as a Video Journalist before making the transition to political life. In 2013 Pam was hired to work on the Liberal Leadership and multiple by-elections. She was elected to the House of Assembly in 2015 to represent the district of Harbour Grace – Port de Grave to present.

Pam has served as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Department of Transportation and Works. She was the Deputy Chair of Committees. She was only the third woman in the history of Responsible Government in NL to serve as Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly. Pam was elected by all female MHAs to serve as the Provincial Representative for the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians Canada.

On April 8, 2021, she was sworn in as Minister Responsible for Women and Gender Equality.
