On January 12th, a red fox was killed in Wabush (Labrador) that was subsequently confirmed with rabies. This was the first case in Labrador since 2005. Due to the high fox populations in Labrador, and the fact that rabies is being seen in many other places in northern Quebec, it is possible that this outbreak could extend throughout this region.
Information regarding this outbreak will be posted on this site as available. For general information on this disease and its history in this province, please return to the rabies homepage.
