Family Justice Services Division: Counselling Services

Counselling services may be available for families who are involved in the dispute resolution process. Counselors of Family Justice Services will work with parents, either individually or jointly, and their children. There are no fees for these services.

Counselling can be provided for:

  • Children
    • for their emotional adjustment to separation and divorce
    • for maintaining healthy relationships with both parents
  • Parents
    • for emotional adjustment to separation
    • for supporting children through change
    • for healthy decision making with the other parent
  • Unlike in mediation, counselors are not neutral. They represent the best interests of the child and are often a voice for children.
