White Rose Expansion

In 2003 and 2006, exploration drilling in and around the White Rose field led to the discovery of a new field North Amethyst and the increase in understanding of two oil pools which are part of the existing project: West White Rose and the South White Rose Expansion.

The North Amethyst field represents the first satellite expansion to the White Rose project and was estimated, by the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board, to hold 68 million barrels of oil. Located approximately six kilometres southwest of the SeaRose FPSO, North Amethyst is also the first near field tieback offshore Canada.

For estimates of recoverable oil and gas reserves and resources and production statistics please see the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board website.
