Grants to Youth Organizations

Applications have currently closed for 2019-20, and applicants will be notified in early fall of the status of their application. Please check back in 2020 for the next call for proposals.

Grants to Youth Organizations provides project funding to youth or youth-serving organizations in Newfoundland and Labrador. Each year, our office invites applications to this program, which is announced through a press release. Eligible projects must:

  • Engage youth in activities that encourage skill, knowledge, and leadership development so that they may positively contribute to their community, region or province;
  • Enhance partnerships and collaboration; and
  • Fill a gap in services.

Applications should outline how their project meets the above criteria. Applications are assessed by an internal evaluation committee that will also take into consideration: the number of youth served, project outcomes, geographic coverage within the province, innovation of the proposal, alignment with regional needs, and alignment with government’s strategic objectives.

Please Note
Disbursement of Grants to Youth Organizations funds in any given year is dependent on the number, variety and quality of applications received.

An organization that was successful in receiving funding for a project in one year may not necessarily be successful in receiving the same level of funding or any funding in future years, even if the project is the same or similar.

As the grant is an application-driven program, no decisions are made about which organizations will receive funding or how much funding successful applicants will receive until all applications have been received and assessed.

Organizations that received funding in 2018-19 are not eligible to be considered for funding in 2019-20 until final reports for 2018-19 have been submitted to the satisfaction of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Successful applicants will be notified via email and will be required to sign and return a standard contract outlining specific reporting and other requirements. All payments will be electronic.

Unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by letter sent to the email address provided on the application.
