This week the Council on Higher Education held its third meeting to discuss priorities and initiatives in post-secondary education.
Members discussed post-secondary links to the Premier’s Task Force on Improving Educational Outcomes as well as ongoing work and opportunities to collaborate in the area of Indigenous education.
Members of the council are the Chair of Memorial University’s Board of Regents, President of Memorial University, Chair of College of the North Atlantic’s Board of Governors, President of College of the North Atlantic, and the Minister and Deputy Minister of the Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour. Members also include student representatives from the province’s public post-secondary institutions.
The Council on Higher Education was first convened on March 23, 2017. The establishment of the council meets a key commitment in The Way Forward: A Vision for Sustainability and Growth in Newfoundland and Labrador to forming a council to facilitate collaboration and make recommendations for both public post-secondary institutions and the Provincial Government.
