The Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, wishes all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who will be celebrating this weekend a happy Mexican Independence Day.
Mexicans and people of Mexican heritage throughout the world celebrate Independence Day on September 16 with fireworks, street parties, and festive foods and decorations in the colours of the Mexican flag.
The 2018 Diversity Calendar acknowledges this and other cultural holidays and events, a key commitment in The Way Forward on Immigration in Newfoundland and Labrador.
This collaborative, partnership-driven immigration action plan delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to strengthen the province’s economic foundation and deliver better services and better outcomes for residents. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at thewayforward.gov.nl.ca.
