The Provincial Government today launched its online pre-budget consultations for Budget 2018. Starting today, members of the public and industry stakeholders can visit www.engagenl.ca to provide their feedback as part of the budget process.
Government is seeking input into ways to find efficiencies in service delivery. Stakeholders and members of the public are asked to offer their ideas and insights on how government can reduce spending while remaining on track in its efforts to return the province to a place of financial stability.
The province is also hosting six in-person consultation sessions in five regions which will be hosted by provincial ministers. The schedule of in-person sessions, which start next week, is available as a backgrounder below.
Government will also begin reaching out to stakeholders in the coming week to organize industry roundtable sessions.
Quote
“As part of The Way Forward, our government is committed to ensuring a better future for everyone who makes their home in Newfoundland and Labrador. To achieve this, we must address unsustainable spending in government departments and agencies, boards and commissions. I look forward to public input as we move forward in the budget process.”
Honourable Tom Osborne
Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board
