The Provincial Government today announced it has reached a collective agreement with the Association of Allied Health Professionals (AAHP). Ratification of this agreement concluded on Thursday, January 24.
The Provincial Government and AAHP, which represents approximately 750 allied health professionals such as social workers, pharmacists, physiotherapists, speech-language pathologists, dietitians, occupational therapists and others, have reached an agreement that includes no wage increases, the elimination of severance and changes to post retirement benefits. The agreement is for a term of four years and expires in 2020.
This collective agreement will support government’s balanced approach to fiscal management, maintaining services while creating a more affordable public service. The current projected savings of the severance payout across the entire public service is approximately $25 million per year.
This initiative delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to strengthen the province’s economic foundation and operate a more efficient public sector.
