The Honourable Graham Letto, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Albert Lake Cabin Access Road (Reg. 2001)
Proponent: Mike Robertson

The proponent proposes to construct a new access road off the existing Albert Lake cabin access road, located approximately seven kilometres east of Cliff’s Underpass on the Trans-Labrador Highway (Route 500). The new road will provide single-lane road access to the proponent’s existing cabin lot on Albert Lake, Wabush. The proposed road will follow an existing undeveloped ATV trail and will be approximately 900 metres long and five metres wide.

The undertaking was registered on February 19, 2019; the deadline for public comments is April 2, 2019; and the minister’s decision is due by April 5, 2019

ENVIRONMENTAL PREVIEW REPORT DEFICIENT:

Crémaillère Harbour Marine Port Development (Reg. 1933)
Proponent: Great Northern Port Inc.

In March 2018 the minister provided the environmental preview report (EPR) guidelines to the proponent for the preparation of an EPR. The minister has advised the proponent that the EPR submitted for review for this project is deficient and that a revised EPR is required to address the information deficiencies which include, but are not limited to: a more detailed description of the occurrence, distribution and status of fish and wildlife species; development of a Women’s Employment Plan; the placement and operation of port facilities; and a detailed evaluation of the requirements of the proposed project in comparison to services and infrastructure currently or potentially provided by existing ports.
