June 26, 2019

The Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, today announced the launch of a public consultation process related to the review of the Provincial Solid Waste Management Strategy. This is the first comprehensive review of the strategy since it was announced in 2002.

Consultation is a very important part of the review of the Provincial Waste Management Strategy. Feedback gathered during the public consultations period will provide valuable information and insight into local, regional and provincial waste management issues and be important in informing the work of the review.

A discussion guide, incorporating a questionnaire, is being used to solicit feedback, and can be accessed online through www.engageNL.ca. Written submissions will also be accepted, and can be emailed to wastestrategyreview@gov.nl.ca or sent by regular mail to:

Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment
P.O. Box 8700

The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 13, 2019.

Quote
“Waste management affects every person, business, organization and local government in Newfoundland and Labrador. It is important that we hear from as many people as possible, as what we hear will help shape how we move forward. I encourage everyone to participate in the consultation process and not only raise any concerns they have, but also let us know how they’d like to see us address the issues raised.”
Honourable Lisa Dempster
Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment
