August 7, 2020

The Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, advised today that the provincially- owned and operated pools in Gander and Corner Brook will re-open on Monday, August 10.

As per public health guidelines, operational changes have been made to enhance safety and cleaning procedures of these pool sites.

There will be a restricted number of patrons allowed within the pools at any one time, and a requirement for pre-booking of swim times. Patrons can pre-book swims by calling:

  • Corner Brook:           1-709-637-2584
  • Gander:                      1-709-256-1283

For more information on using the provincial pools, please visit www.gov.nl.ca/cssd/recreation/provincially-operated-pools/.

Plans to reopen the provincially owned and operated pool in Happy Valley-Goose Bay have been delayed due to ceiling damage sustained at the end of July. The Department of Transportation and Works is currently assessing the extent of damage and an update will be provided at a later date.
