October 16, 2020

The Honourable Brian Warr, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, and Minister Responsible for the Status of Persons with Disabilities, was joined by representatives of Springdale’s Life Unlimited for Older Adults group and volunteers with their Care 2 Ride Bus, to announce the opening of the Newfoundland and Labrador Community Transportation Program.

In Budget 2020, the Provincial Government allocated $300,000 for the Newfoundland and Labrador Community Transportation Program, which supports alternate and innovative transportation services that meet an identified need in the community or region.

The program is application-based and open to incorporated municipalities, not-for-profit groups and entities within a local service district, and Indigenous governments and communities.

Applications must include a detailed business plan demonstrating a community needs assessment, budget considerations, sustainability, partnerships, inclusivity and an evaluation plan. Funding of up to $100,000 per project is available for eligible and successful applicants.

The application deadline is Friday, December 11, 2020. For more information on the Newfoundland and Labrador Community Transportation Program, please visit here.
