Official Candidate Nomination Deadline Approaching

  • Office of the Chief Electoral Officer

September 11, 2020

Elections Newfoundland and Labrador wishes to advise all potential candidates for the October 6, 2020 Humber – Gros Morne by-election that the deadline for filing nomination papers is 2:00 p.m. this Tuesday, September 15.

Nomination papers, along with a $200 deposit, must be filed with either:

  • the Returning Officer for the district (located at the Central Development Building, #2 Route 430 in Parsons Pond), or
  • Elections Newfoundland and Labrador (39 Hallett Crescent in St. John’s).

Elections NL’s nomination process is completely separate from the political party nomination process and all candidates are required to file by the deadline. If papers are not received by 2:00 p.m. on September 15, the candidate’s name will not appear on the ballot for election.

Nomination papers are available online at www.elections.gov.nl.ca/elections/resources/forms/can/N1-N5.pdf.
