Premier-designate Dr. Andrew Furey thanks Burin – Grand Bank MHA Carol Anne Haley for her service to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador as a cabinet minister.

While the Premier-designate said he is disappointed to see MHA Haley has stepped down from her role as Minister for the Status of Women and will not seek re-election in the future, he understands her decision to find a balance between public and personal life at this time.

“MHA Haley has invested her time and energy into her roles as Minister for the Status of Women and Chief Government Whip, and I commend her for doing so,” said Premier-designate Furey.

“I am sure the people of Burin – Grand Bank are glad to see MHA Haley will continue to represent them in the House of Assembly, and I am happy to have her support,” he added.

Premier-designate Furey said he has enjoyed working with MHA Haley within the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador, and looks forward to continuing to do so in caucus.

He wishes MHA Haley all the best in this new chapter of her political life.
