Public Advisory: Poaching Charges Pending Following Investigations by Resource Enforcement Officers

Provincial Resource Enforcement Officers with the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture seized nets, Atlantic salmon and related items following two investigations in the Lewisporte area on September 10 and 14. Charges are pending under the federal Fisheries Act.

Anglers and the public are encouraged to assist efforts to stop the poaching of salmon on the province’s inland waters by reporting any suspicious activity.

Individuals can report anonymously and toll-free at any time of the day, by calling 1-877-820-0999 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. Anonymous reports can also be submitted online through the department’s Report Poaching page or through www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
