Public Advisory: Officers Seeking Information for Investigation of Caribou Remains

Resource Enforcement Officers are seeking the public’s assistance related to the discovery of the remains of two caribou along an access road near St. Anthony Airport. The caribou were shot and left untouched near the two-kilometer mark of the access road approximately 250 meters from the shoulder of the road.

It is an offence under the Wild Life Act to willfully or intentionally allow the flesh of wildlife taken and appropriated for food to be destroyed, wasted, or spoiled.

Investigators are encouraging persons with information or anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area during the period November 11 – 13 to contact the Resource Enforcement Division in Roddickton at 709-457-3015. Information can also be provided anonymously and toll-free at any time of the day, by calling 1-877-820-0999 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
