April 9, 2020

The public are advised that effective Wednesday, April 15 forest access roads in the Point Leamington, Botwood, Lewisporte, Glenwood, Birchy Bay, Gander Bay, Gambo and Glovertown areas will be closed to vehicle traffic until further notice.

Temporary forest access road closures at this time of year are required to protect roads from vehicular damage during the spring thawing period.

These forest access roads remain open to snowmobiles and ATV’s, however, individuals using these modes of transportation are expected to adhere to physical distancing protocols established by the provincial Chief Medical Officer of Health.

For further information about forest access road closures please contact the Lewisporte Forestry and Wildlife District Office at 709-541-0214 for areas west of the Gander River or the Gambo Forestry and Wildlife District Office at 709-674-1521 for areas east of the Gander River.
