The Department of Health and Community Services is asking people who traveled on Air Canada Flight AC8006 departing Toronto for St. John’s on Thursday, July 16, 2020, to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and call 811 for testing.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include:
- Fever (or signs of a fever, including chills, sweats, muscle aches, lightheadedness);
- Cough;
- Headache;
- Sore throat;
- Painful swallowing;
- Runny nose;
- Diarrhea;
- Loss of sense of smell or taste;
- Unexplained loss of appetite; and,
- Small red or purple spots on the hands and/or feet.
This ask is in relation to the one confirmed case announced today (Friday, July 24), which was related to international travel.
While the risk of exposure to COVID-19 is considered low at this time, Public Health is asking people to monitor themselves and call 811 out of an abundance of caution.
