Public Advisory: People Who Travelled on Air Canada Flight AC690 Asked to Monitor for COVID-19 Symptoms and Call 811

The Department of Health and Community Services is asking people who travelled on Air Canada Flight AC690 departing Toronto for St. John’s on Thursday, August 6, 2020, to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19. If symptoms develop, individuals are advised to call 811 for appropriate follow-up.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include:

  • Fever (or signs of a fever, including chills, sweats, muscle aches, lightheadedness);
  • Cough;
  • Headache;
  • Sore throat;
  • Painful swallowing;
  • Runny nose;
  • Diarrhea;
  • Loss of sense of smell or taste;
  • Unexplained loss of appetite; and,
  • Small red or purple spots on the hands and/or feet.

While the risk of exposure to COVID-19 is considered low at this time, Public Health is asking people to monitor themselves and call 811 out of an abundance of caution.
