Starting a new school year can be exciting and stressful. This year, COVID-19 has heightened some of those anxious feelings for students, parents, teachers, school staff, and bus drivers.
The Provincial Government wants to remind Newfoundlanders and Labradorians about the e-health services available for youth and adults at: www.bridgethegapp.ca, which provides self-help mental health resources, as well as links to support services that are locally available, confidential and free.
Some of these services include:
- BreathingRoom™;
- MindWell-U 30-Day Mindfulness Challenge;
- Strongest Families Institute’s anxiety and behavioural programs for ages 3-17;
- Strongest Families Institute’s I CAN (Conquer Anxiety and Nervousness) program for ages 18-30; and,
- Therapy Assistance Online (TAO).
In addition to the online services, if you are finding it hard to cope, please call the Mental Health Crisis Line at: 1-888-737-4668, to speak with a trained mental health professional. This service is offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
You can also call the Provincial Warm Line at: 1-855-753-2560, to speak to a certified peer supporter. This service is offered seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to Midnight.
