The Provincial Government is providing $130,000 to the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador to support the continued delivery of the First Link and Dementia Passport programs.
First Link connects individuals with dementia, their families, friends, and care partners to health information and services in their communities, from the time of diagnosis and throughout the progression of the disease. Since the implementation of First Link in 2012, 1,147 individuals have been supported through the ASNL’s community networks.
With the Dementia Passport, the Alzheimer Society is developing evidence-based learning modules through an e-learning platform, which provide education about all aspects of dementia care. Subjects include a high-level overview of dementia and professional development for those providing care, personal care, or supporting the transition to care options, as well as person-centered care, which focuses on the rights of people living with dementia.
