Today, the Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology, announced $61,055 to assist the Town of Greenspond with an economic development initiative including renovations to its former courthouse, which was built in 1899 and remains an integral part of the community’s history and architectural heritage. Funding support from the Regional Development Program aims to strengthen the regional and provincial economy throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

The project will include exterior renovations as well as plumbing and electrical upgrades, which will enhance visitor experiences and help generate opportunities for more product offerings, new business and non-profit development.

The Government of Canada also announced today a non-repayable contribution of $196,991 for the Town of Greenspond for this restoration project. The federal government, through ACOA, is working closely with its many community partners to help them attract investment, diversify their economies and create jobs.
